e going to have a garage sale, then you might as well use calculators, receipt books and packaging materials to speed up your process. Your packaging materials might include, but is not limited to, strings, ropes, scissors, tapes, boxes, and so on.

Generally, garage sales attract lots of customers. So make sure you have a smooth layout to allow flow of traffic. Make sure people don’t get congested. Having wide spaces is a good idea. Otherwise, people might feel uncomfortable and leave without buying anything. To better distributed space, keep the smaller items on tables and the larger items on the ground. You can use tables as aisles so that people can easily move through.

You should keep your interesting items outside the garage. Why? These will attract people driving by. If they see something they might be interested in, they will slow down and come inside to have a look. So make sure your best products are outside and in open view.

Don’t display all your best stuff at once. If this is so, they might get sold and your customers arriving late might not find anything interesting at all. You will lose customers. However, if late customers do find one or two things of interest, they might by other things too, in a whim.

If you have items with original packaging and along with unopened accessories or booklets, keep them as it is. This ensures their value, and more people will be interested to buy.

In the course of the garage sale, if you encounter any person who says that they will be back later to pick up something, then don’t hold the item for them unless they pay around half the price before leaving. There is a good chance the person might not come back.

If you live in an area which is a popular resort of vacation spot, then holding your sale in a holiday weekend will be the best idea to draw as much customers as possible. Otherwise, if you hold the garage sale in a holiday weekend, there might be other events going on too, and your sale will get less priority then. So keep this in mind.

When you price something, make sure you set the price around 10-30% higher, this is because there will be customers who will be ready to bargain with you. And make sure you mark the prices individually; this way you won’t have to get tired saying the same thing over and over again.

Make sure you have this on you receipt: No Exchange or Refund”. This way, you won’t have be bothered with people knocking your door a month later to return something.
